Not illustrated. 1706 Excerpt: ... second Section we have the best of what Chyraistry is wont to extract from what is called the Animal Reign which is here reduced to Humane Blood, Milk, Fat, Marrow, Flesh, Bines, Horns, Hides, Feathers, Eggs Shells, Urine, Honey, Wax and Soap, w hich are the Subjects of so many Chapters. The third Section runs through the Vegetable Reign, beginning with Spices; among which Limon peel is brought in. From thence he proceeds to Roots, Woods, Leaves, Flowers, Seeds, Gums and Rosins, and concludes with the Analysis of Wine, Vinegar, Tartar, and Concrete Juices, such as Opium, Aloes, Scammony, and Camphire, to whichhe adds Soot. Minerals make the Subject of the 4th Section: That is to fay, common Salt, Nitre, Vitriol, Sal Armoniac, Allom, common Brimstone, yellow Amber, (or Succinnm) Coral, PearJ, Jewels and Arsenick He reserves for the last Section, Metals perfect and imperfect, viz.. Mercury, (to which he refers Natural Vermillion, and Bismuth) Antimony, Lead, Tin, Silver, Iron, Copper and Gold j the Chapter of which takes up above a third part of all the Section, which is not to be thought strange in a Chymical Treatise composed in Germany. This long space is fill'd up by 17 Procefles or Courses from Tileman' and de Langelott, famous Chymists of that Country, about that which in the Language of the Adepts is call'd Radical Solutions, and breduilible Tin turet, from this Metal: By another very long and tedious Course, boasted of by Clauder the Author of it, as an infallible Means to acquire this so much wilb'd for Universal Tincture; and, in a word, by some other Operations which tend to the fame purpose-We have at the beginning of this first Part, Prolegomena, where our Author endeavours to establish the Principles of Natural Bodies, which he does accord...
